JOB CREATION PROGRAMMES

With the establishment of guidance and introduction centres (Piareersarfiit), the municipalities have the opportunity to plan and implement initiatives to combat unemployment and develop skills through training.

Act no. 27 of 30 October 1992 regulating labour recruitment offers Greenlandic manpower priority access to designated types of positions where the necessary manpower is estimated to be available.

Labour Market Reform

The labour market reform is a collective term for a series of activities which form the general framework for the overall labour market policy.

The key objective of the reform is to further collaboration with businesses and make interventions more demand-oriented so that the country as far as possible can cover the labour needs with manpower of the native population.

The municipalities have the responsibility for the operation of the Piareersarfiit via a government service contract.

As part of the labour market reform, a departmental order on mobility allowance to encourage labour mobility in Greenland has come into effect.

A mobility analysis documenting the mobility of the population was conducted in 2009.
